COUNTRY CLUB HOMES REZONING
7TH STREET and EARLL DRIVE
REZONING APPLICATION Z-119-07-4
The undersigned do hereby petition the Phoenix City Council to oppose the rezoning application submitted by Country Club Homes, LLC to rezone the area of 7th Street and Earll Drive. The developer seeks re-zoning to build a high-density, high-intensity development consisting of multi-story residential apartments, condos and inappropriate commercial uses.
I oppose this rezoning application for the following reasons: The re-zoning, which is more appropriate in the Transit Oriented District supporting the light rail line along Central Avenue, is incompatible with the historic character of the surrounding single family residents on both sides. The developer is planning too much density/intensity for the area. The proposed height of the buildings, which will invade single family backyards and homes, will destroy privacy, reduce home values and ultimately destroy the Historic La Hacienda Historic Neighborhood. The proposed redevelopment will greatly increase traffic congestion during rush hours and amplify the traffic noise with its Big Box Castle type construction while allowing commercial and retail operations incompatible with the existing residential homes.
